Summer Term 2021
Welcome to our Key Stage 2 area! In these strange Post (hopefully) Covid lockdown times we hope that you will find this area of the website useful as we build in documents and photos that will help you understand our curriculum and also see what the children have been up to. We fully understand the difficulties that Home Learning presented many and were immensely impressed with how the children accessed and uploaded their work via Google Classroom. We want to say a huge THANKYOU to you all for helping make this work whilst we continue to provide an education for children of Critical and Vulnerable children.
It was great to see so many families access our Easter Service via Zoom at the end of the Spring Term. We had 100 zoom windows and multiple people of all ages within the. Please do also look at the curriculum areas for English and Maths which we hope will provide you with further guidance on how we teach these subjects. Also please have a look at the Key Stage Newsletter which will contain information about your child’s learning. This term we will continue to use the outdoors a lot. We have a Number Day in early May, Sports Day in Summer 2 and also each class will take part in a Forest School Day.
This initial half term we are all studying the text ‘How to Train Your Dragon’. We will use this to write a range of text styles including stories, information texts and instructions. Within Maths, we are focusing on Fractions and Decimals plus continuing to consolidate our knowledge of written methods and recalling number facts.
Across the rest of the curriculum we will examine the Vikings and look at Local Geography. In Science we study Animals and Light, in Art and DT we study Sculptures and in RE we are exploring Pentecost. Y3s are finishing off their samba drumming tuition whilst in Y4 the children will begin to learn to play the Ukulele.
As always, if you are unsure of anything, please contact your child’s class teacher either via Class Dojo or through the school office and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Mr Lewis, Mrs Nakayama, Mr Ashdown, Mrs Sainsbury, Mrs Oakerbee and Miss Cresswell.
